Mr. Potato Head,
the Son is about to run down to the super market for some sour
cream. His wife is upstairs scrubbing up for when their company
comes to dinner.
Just before Mr.
Potato Head, the Son, went out the door he said to Haman "Please
do your chores to help us get ready for our company! You need to
put away the silverware from the dishwasher and carry out the
kitchen trash." And Haman said "I will Daddy!" Mr. Potato Head
loves his little Tater Tot. He proudly patted him on the head
with much affection.

Then, just as he
was going out the door, Mr. Potato Head, the Son said to Polly,
"You need to clean up the dog doodoo from the back yard Polly.
Please go out now." Polly said "NO!" But her daddy was already
out the door when she said it.
Now, Haman, who
said "I will Daddy," when asked to help, continued to play his
game and to have fun rocking back and forth as he played. And
Haman never did empty the silverware out of the dishwasher or
carry out the kitchen trash.
And Polly, who
said "NO!" when asked to help, regretted saying that. And even
though she doesn’t LIKE cleaning up the dog doodoo from the
yard, she did it. She got out the shovel and the bag and cleaned
up all the piles. Then she put everything away and washed her
hands because maybe she got germs on her hands.
Now, when Mr.
Potato Head, the Son, got back from the store, who do you think
he was pleased with? Polly.
And who do you
think he was angry with? Haman
Jesus told the
people who LOVE God, that they should go out and SERVE God. That
meant that they should look out, not only for their own
interest, but also for the interest of others. Some people do
that and some don’t.
We can be the
kind of people who say "Yes, we will help," and then not do the
work;
or
We can be the
kind of people who look out for others and find ways to help.
Sometimes that
means you can’t just sit and play your own games. You need to
help out at home by doing your chores.
THE END
