Today is the
second Sunday of Advent. Prepare Ye The Way!
The Potatoes
have their Christmas Tree up already. Do you? At my house, we
will put it up soon! Haman has been busy looking at the growing
pile of wrapped presents under the tree.
Since no one
is looking, Haman picked up the one box and shook it to see if
it rattled. Maybe it is the toy he asked Santa for. He talked
with Santa in person at the mall yesterday and here today this
gift appeared.
“Hmmmm”
teased Haman as Polly came into the room. “I think there are
more presents for me than there are for you!”
“That’s not
true! I counted them!” snapped Polly.
“But mine are
bigger!” retorted Haman. Polly pouted. (This is how you pout .
. but I expect you already know that!)
“Move aside
there Tater Tots,” bustled Mr. Potato Head. “I’m here to water
the tree!”
“Haman, stop
teasing your sister!” said their mother Mrs. Potato Head. “And
wash your hands and help Polly set the table. Polly, you were
supposed to be folding the napkins!” And then Mrs. Potato Head
said to her husband “You know we are having the Cows for
dinner. It’s time to go get your mother at the Retirement Home
and bring her here. We must get everything in order. NOW,
Haman, wash your hands! And someone, pick up these toys from
the floor!”

Everyone got
busy with preparation.
Now, you
might think that Preparing The Way means to have all of these
things ready for Christmas. All these things are really very,
very nice. I have them in my house and I bet some of you have
them in your house.
But you know,
Christmas Trees and wrapped presents and Advent Wreaths all
these things are NOT what God calls us to prepare.
God calls us
to prepare our heart. Prepare Ye The Way means to prepare our
Heart and our Life for Christ to come.
What if, WHAT
IF you found out that Jesus was coming to your house tonight?
Jesus, the actual man, the actual God, would walk through your
front door and talk to you and your family.
Wow, I think
the Potatoes might stop teasing and pouting and bossing each
other. Preparing is not about watering the tree or counting the
presents or setting the dinner table. Preparing is about
showing LOVE when we water the tree and showing LOVE when we
prepare dinner. It is about LOVE.
The 2nd
Bible lesson today says “I pray that you may overflow with LOVE
in the day of Christ.” Prepare Ye the Way with LOVE for
Christ’s coming!
THE END

candles)
