Barabas likes
art work. He is engrossed in coloring in the design on today’s
paper that The SCS Teacher had placed on the table. He colored
the rays at the top yellow. He colored the dove blue and he
colored the cross brown. The words on the side of the drawing
say ‘TRINITY SUNDAY’.
“Good morning
class! Can anyone tell me what day of the church year it is
today?” the SCS Teacher asked the class. No one answered.
“Here are
some clues.” she said. She held up these drawings. Triangle –
Tricycle - Tripod - Triplets
“What do
these pictures have in common?” she asked.

“Oh! Oh!
Like I know!” shouted Running Chairs, jumping up and down.
“They all have, like you know, THREE somethings.”
“Oh!” said
Barabas, looking at the paper he had just colored. “TODAY
must be Trinity Sunday! And Trinity means THREE, like in the
drawings.”
“That’s
right.” said The SCS Teacher. “Trinity Sunday. Trinity means
the three parts of God. Just like the items in these pictures
have three parts, so does God. And the three parts of God are ;
God the Father who creates every
day
God the Son, Jesus Christ who died
on the cross for us
God the Holy Spirit, who inspires
us to show God’s love to all around us
So, does this mean we have three
Gods?
No, we have one God who has shown
himself to us in three ways.
Now, how can God be three
different things at the same time? Well, we don’t exactly know
and we don’t need to know to get into heaven.
Heaven is not like school or a
college where you need to take very hard tests to graduate.
Thank goodness you don’t need to take a test to get into
heaven.
The good news is that God loves
each and every one of us so much, that he has
already made a
place in heaven for each of us.
God continues to show his love for
us through the Father, who creates us, through his Son, who died
on the cross for us, and through the Holy Spirit, who inspires
us to show God’s love to all around us.”

“Oh.” thought Barabas as he looked
at his coloring. “God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy
Spirit. It IS a TRINITY. I like that.”
THE END
