Lutheran Retirement Communities Ministry
The Lutheran
Retirement Communities Ministry
usually meets
to attend an event of our two area communities – Frey Village in
Middletown and Cumberland Crossing, east of Carlisle. The
ministry publicizes to the congregation the fund-raising and
other events and volunteer needs of the communities. It also
collects items that may be useful to or sold by the communities
and their residents to raise funds. If you are interested in
joining the activities of this ministry, contact Joan Gamber
through the church office.

School Kit Ministry

The School
Kits Ministry
sews colorful
fabric school bags and collects from the congregation school
supplies and monetary donations. The women assemble the kits,
which are taken by a volunteer group from Trinity to the
Lutheran World Relief warehouse in Maryland for shipment to
children in impoverished areas overseas. In 2009 the ministry
produced 250 kits. If you wish to help this ministry, contact
Fran Jacobs or Gloria Zerbe through the church office. |

Sewing Ministry

The Sewing
Ministry
meets on the
third Tuesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., except
in December, to sew quilts and assemble sewing kits for
distribution to impoverished and disaster-struck areas of the
world by Lutheran World Relief and other groups and to Rocky Boy
Reservation. In 2009 the group donated 26 quilts for adults and
small children. If you would like to join in the fellowship and
work of this group, contact Carolyn Jones or Pat Eby through the
church office. No experience is necessary. |

Special Concerns
Ministry
The Special
Concerns Ministry
identifies
and responds to special local, regional, and churchwide needs.
In the fall this group sponsors and publicizes Blanket+ Sunday
to collect funds from the congregation for Church World Service
to use for needs in impoverished and disaster-struck locations
worldwide. The ministry has recently expanded to include the
collection of personal hygiene items and preparation of health
kits for Lutheran World Relief, which reports there is a dire
need for these kits. Each fall the group collects caps,
mittens, gloves, and scarves for the more than 500 homeless
children in the Harrisburg School District (over 600 items
collect in 2009) and participates with other volunteers in an
annual Christmas Party for a group of homeless children. This
ministry also collects labels from Campbell Products to help
to help designated educational organizations acquire equipment.
If you are interest in joining this motivated ministry, contact
Mel Robertson
through the church office.
