John H. Brock was born
and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. He spent many formative
summers with relatives in North Carolina, but surprised most of
his family & friends by attending Augustana College in Sioux
Falls, South Dakota. He remained “out west” for several years,
living in such diverse of places as Wyoming, Nevada, and
Northern California.
John served as
Congregational Youth Associate at St. John Lutheran, Madison,
SD, and as Director of Youth Ministry at St. John’s Lutheran,
Stamford, CT. While in Stamford, he served concurrently as the
New England Synod Youth Resource Person. While in New England,
he was certified as an Associate in Ministry of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America.
He graduated from the
Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, was ordained that
same year (1997), and served his first call as pastor at a two
point parish in Elysburg, PA. In the fall of 2002, John was
called to serve as Associate Pastor of Trinity. His wife,
Marianne, sings with Faith X (the worship band for the 10:45 AM
Sunday service), and is the Director of Camp Nawakwa, part of
the Lutheran Camping Corporation of Central Pennsylvania.
They have two sons, three
cats, a very large (and friendly!) dog, and live in a nearly two
hundred year old home in Mechanicsburg.
