Story of Trinity's Way of the Cross |
Jesus speaks on the way to the Cross
A large number of
people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for
him. Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do
not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children. For
the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless
women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never
nursed!”
(Luke 23:27-29)
O women of
Jerusalem
Weep for all
For innocence
is cut this day
Hatred, fear, rage, and sin
Strike away what stood
Slice the head, remove the heart
Slaughtering
all
Lord,
Speak to us
That we might hear the love through pain,
The bitterness of prophecy
And its tempering
That yet may promise
Better change
for us and ours.
Amen |
