Wedding Service Music

THIS PAGE HAS BEEN PROVIDED TO YOU basically to save you trips to the church during these hectic days prior to the wedding! You can listen to the music selections on the next page by clicking on the title of the composition, read this information at your leisure, and forward the information to me by phone or email. The next page will allow you to choose the compositions and forward them to me from this website. If you would still like to meet personally for whatever reason, please don't hesitate to call.

THE PRE-SERVICE (preludes) portion of the service usually consists of about 5 selections, (including optional vocal solos) totaling approximately 20-25 minutes. If you are having a vocalist, I suggest they sing their first selection when ALL the guests are in their seats to enjoy it - for example, immediately before the processional and no sooner. (I've found it to be a waste to have a good vocalist sing 15 minutes before the service begins when most of the guests have not yet arrived.) One or two more solos may then be sung during the ceremony.

LIVE INSTRUMENTALISTS (typically flute, violin, trumpet, harp, or handbells) may be hired for an additional fee. Only the finest local musicians are hired.
VOCALISTS (optional): There are several exceptional singers that can be hired depending on your preference (e.g. male or female voice; high or low voice; contemporary or classical style, etc...) All are excellent singers whom you may hear ahead of time if you wish; or, you are more than welcome to provide your own vocalist. If you have other instrumental, organ, or vocal music you have heard at other weddings and would like to use - just let me know. All vocal music MUST be religious in nature, and appropriate for a service of the church.

THE ORGANIST'S FEE is $175. This includes planning and practice time, any phone, email or personal consultations that may arise, the wedding rehearsal (which I sometimes attend) and the actual ceremony. If a vocalist or instrumentalist is used, the organist's fee would then be $200 because of extra rehearsal time.

MANY COUPLES have no real preference as to WHAT is played at their wedding. They are not interested in choosing music or vocalists, and would rather leave it up to me. In this case, I usually play the following popular, "light-classical" selections: (If this looks good to you, just let me know.)

Pre-Service Music
Adagio Cantabile J. S. Bach
Arioso (Air on the G String) J. S. Bach
Trumpet Tune John Bennett
Canon in D Johann Pachelbel
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (seating of the mothers) J. S. Bach
Processional
Trumpet Voluntary (organ first, then trumpet begins to play when bride processes) Jeremiah Clarke
Recessional
Wedding March Felix Mendelssohn
