O come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!

Trinity offers a variety of musical opportunities for all age groups!

Children

All of our Children’s choirs are directed by Amy Koch, Director of Children’s Music.  Miss Amy has directed the Children’s Choirs at Trinity for over twenty years.  In addition to being the Children’s choir director, Miss Amy is a Preschool Teacher at the Trinity Preschool Playgroup, the Director of Vacation Bible School, and a very active leader in the Faith Connections program and Children’s Ministry.  Amy’s husband, Tim Koch, is the Ministry Director for Music at Trinity and her two children are very active in the music program. If you have any questions about the Children’s Music program at Trinity, please reach out to Amy via email or at 717-579-1443. We are looking forward to another wonderful year!

Cherub Choir
Grades K – 2*
Rehearsals: Sunday mornings (10:30 – 10:55 am)
Children’s Choir Room (Room 123)
Cherub Choir members attending Faith Connections (a.k.a. Sunday School) will be grouped so that they will make a seamless transition from the education time to the choir rehearsal time.

The Cherub Choir will sing once or twice a month at various services. The children will sit with their families and come forward when it is time to sing. We also sing at the Christmas Concert and on Christmas Eve. A schedule will be handed out the first day. We will be learning multiple anthems each rehearsal so frequent attendance is greatly encouraged (and very necessary).

Junior Bells

Children do not need to be able to read music to participate but it helps. Children who were in the Junior Bell Choir last year (2017/2018) are already on the roster but must reply by email or phone call (717-579-1443) to confirm their position. Any openings will be made available to interested children on a first come first served basis. The Junior Bell Choir typically plays for services 4 Sundays a year, the Christmas Concert, and Christmas Eve. Attendance is expected at all rehearsals and performances.

Teens

For Teens who are interested in singing, Matins Choir (Grades 6 – 12), is a “classic choir” for our contemporary teens.  Songs selections will include classics as well as newer, contemporary music.  We also offer Youth Bells (Grades 6 – 12) for teens interested in being involved in learning how to play the handbells.  Matins choir will rehearse on Sunday afternoons from 5:15 – 6:00 pm. Youth bells will rehearse on Sunday afternoons from 4:30 – 5:15 pm.

Trinity Youth Strings

This group is open to children and youth who are currently playing string instruments. They must have completed at least one year of study. the group plays two or three times a year. This group is led by Director Sara Schmehl.

Adults

Our adult Chancel Choir sings serious music by both traditional and contemporary composers. The choir sings primarily at the later traditional worship service, but may also sing at the early traditional service for special occasions. This choir performs in approximately 2-3 concerts per year with the orchestra and various guest artists. A pleasant singing voice and some note-reading ability are required. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 8:00 – 9:00 pm.

Chancel Choir members may be asked to perform for funerals or other events held at the church. In this case, a special rehearsal will be held prior to the service.  During the Summer months, a special Summer Choir is formed. One rehearsal is held in late May.

If you are interested in choir, but can’t commit to the weekly rehearsal schedule of our Chancel Choir, you can join the Concert Choir.  Our concert choir performs two to three concerts a year with various guest artists and orchestra.  Note-reading ability is required. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.

We also offer an adult handbell choir.  The Adult Bells require rhythmic proficiency. Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm. A commitment to attendance at rehearsals is mandatory.

If you are interested in any of these choirs, please contact Music Director, Tim Koch.

Families (Beginning with children in grade 5 – above)

If your entire family likes to sing and play music, then you are in luck!  We offer a Family Choir as well as a Family Bells Choir.  These choirs will only perform 2 – 3 times per year.  Rehearsals will be held, as needed, prior to the service.  This is a fun way to do something special with your entire family.

During the Lenten Season, our families are invited to participate in the Good Friday Service as well as the Easter Vigil.  The Good Friday Ensemble will rehearse at least 3 times prior to the service.  The Easter Vigil Choir will hold one rehearsal.  Some note reading and rhythmic ability are required.

If you have any questions regarding our Family Choirs, please contact Music Director, Tim Koch.

Summer Soloists and Ensembles

While regular choirs break for the summer, soloists and ensembles are needed for services.

Instrumentalists and Accompanists

Our traditional services frequently use instruments in a solo or ensemble setting: (i.e., oboe, flute, harp, strings, percussion, bells, brass, etc.). Also, competent accompanists are needed from time to time for choir anthems. Prior to our later Traditional service Carilloneurs of all ages take turns playing Trinity’s carillon.

If you are interested in showcasing your instrumental or soloist talents, please contact Music Director, Tim Koch.
