Saturday, September 9, 9 – 11 am (options also offered Saturday immediately following 5 pm worship – no need to sign up for those!)
We will meet at Trinity and complete all projects on site. Here is a list of what we will be doing:
• Painting at Trinity: We’ll help our Property Committee by completing some much-needed painting around the church, focusing primarily on walls and doorframes in the basement. All the supplies you need will be provided – you bring only yourself, your smiles, and your handiwork!
• Preparing frozen meals for families/shut-ins in need: In this Parish Ministry project, you’ll be helping families in need by preparing approximately 50-100 meals. On Saturday, it’s the prep work that you’ll be doing, and it involves the use of knives for cutting the food (so this may not be suitable for young children).
• Assembling personal care kits for JFT: JFT is a nonprofit organization providing recovery and reentry services, veterans programs, housing, education, and job training. On Saturday, we’ll assemble personal care kits for both men and women.
• Preparing brunch for Family Promise: Family promise is a nonprofit agency serving families who have recently lost their homes. On Saturday we’ll prepare a brunch for 13 individuals and 1 staff person. This job will involve the use of knives for cutting food and may not be suitable for young children.
• Creating cards for residents of the Camp Hill Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center: By creating 125 cards for residents at the center, you will definitely brighten their day.
Sunday, September 10, 9 am – Noon
We will begin our day with ONE worship service at 9 am. Then, around 10 am, we’ll begin our service projects at Trinity and in the community, wrapping up around noon. At that time, all are invited to return to Trinity for lunch and fellowship. Here are the projects that we will be completing:
• Finishing Quilts with our Sewing Ministry: You can help to tie off and finish up quilts that will be donated to various local and international organizations. Absolutely no experience is necessary. If you are comfortable using a needle, that is great. Otherwise, you just need to know how to tie a knot. Members of the team will be on hand to help.
• Painting at Trinity: We will be helping out our Property Committee by completing some much needed painting around the church, focusing mostly on walls and doorframes in the basement. All supplies will be provided – only you, your smiles, and your handiwork are requested!
• Removal of Bushes from Trinity property: We have some bushes around our property that need to be removed. This is the perfect job for folks who enjoy working outside and don’t mind getting a little dirty. Please bring your own work gloves.
• Preparing frozen meals for families/shut-ins in need: Help local families and support the work of our Parish Ministry Team by preparing approximately 50-100 meals for families who need them. We will use the church kitchen to cook and package these meals.
• Delivering personal care kits to JFT and learn more about the program: JFT is a nonprofit organization providing recovery and reentry services, veterans programs, housing, education, and job training. On Sunday, you’ll deliver personal care kits. At the same time, you’ll learn more about the services provided by JFT when you spend time talking with persons who have benefited from those services. What a great opportunity to hear firsthand how you can impact lives. (300 Market Street, Lemoyne)
• Serving brunch at Family Promise: Family promise is a nonprofit agency serving families who have recently lost their homes. We will reheat and serve the meals that were made on Saturday and have the opportunity to share a meal and fellowship with the families. This is another great way to learn firsthand how your service can impact lives. (56 Erford Road, Camp Hill)
• Hymn sing and visiting with residents of the Camp Hill Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center: Still another way to impact lives and bring smiles: we’ll host a hymn sing with the residents of the center. We will also spend time with them and distribute the cards made by our Saturday volunteers. If you enjoy playing an instrument, please bring it along! (1700 Market Street, Camp Hill)
• Clean up of Siebert Park in Camp Hill: And yet another way to make a difference: We’ll work together to rake leaves, trim bushes, collect trash, and more. Just remember to bring your own rakes, gloves, and clippers. We’ll provide the trash bags. (2414 Cumberland Blvd., Camp Hill)
