24 Hours That Changed the World

No single event in human history has received more attention than the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus. In this Lenten journey, Adam Hamilton guides us through the last twenty-four hours of Jesus’ life. You will have two opportunities to attend this class: Sun., Feb. 19 – April 2, 10 am. This will be a 45 minute long class including video and bible study. Wed., Feb. 22 – April 5, 1:30 – 3 pm. This class will include the video, along with a book and bible study. Books available for purchase at the class for $10. Both sessions will be led by Beth Bard. Room 122

Why Easter Matters
Sundays, March 5 – 26, 10 am

Have you ever been at odds with God? Have you resisted, defied, or tried to bargain your way out of what you thought God wanted? You aren’t alone. Scripture documents similar stories. In this Easter Study Andy Stanley looks at some of the people whose lives intersected with Jesus in the weeks leading to his crucifixion. As you’ll see, there’s a little bit of them in all of us. This series will be led by Linda Horner. Room 125.

SERVE

Your Lenten giving is even more important this year!

Lenten Offering

We appreciate your Lenten offering each year, but this year it is even more important. Not only will your financial contributions give us the means to operate – livestream worship, music, activities, more – but they also support outreach to all who seek God’s word and to the outside ministries who depend on us for help. This year we will set aside 10 percent of the Lenten offerings and split that amount between two of our outside ministries as follows:

Tree 4 Hope – Elder Program – Tree 4 Hope and the Hogar Miguel Magone orphanage have expanded their community outreach to include the elderly living in their local village of Aguacate. Every 2 weeks, 70 elderly men and women gather for a day of activities. They begin with a marimba concert and dancing with the children living in the orphanage, then move into some gentle stretching and balance exercises. Afterwards the folks enjoy a traditional Guatemalan meal and then spend time coloring, making crafts, or playing bingo. This is an important ministry for both the elderly in our community and the children living in the orphanage. It costs $125 to provide this experience, less than $2.00 per elder. Our goal is to make this happen at the orphanage each week.

Christian Churches United – Harrisburg Unhoused Emergency Assistance Fund – TFEC (The Foundation for Enhancing Communities) has set up a fund called the “Harrisburg Unhoused Emergency Assistance Fund” which will be accessed to meet the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness in a community-wide emergency such as a public health crisis, encampment closure/relocation, or severe weather event.
