Help Others! Participate in our Week of Service

Volunteering is a great way to support our community, make new friends, and utilize your spiritual gifts! We have put together several opportunities for you to participate in person and at home, during our Week of Service. All events will take place during the week of October 26 – November 1.

In-Person Opportunities

Volunteer at the Ecumenical Food Pantry
Monday, October 26

Housed at Messiah Lutheran Church, Harrisburg, this emergency food assistance program has served the community since 1972. We are looking for volunteers to help unload the food delivery truck, greet and record client data, fulfill client orders, and pack bags for future use. Please click here to sign-up.

Important information: The Food Pantry is located at Messiah Lutheran Church in Harrisburg (901 N. 6th Street.) You are able to park in spaces designated for the Messiah Lutheran Church. Please enter through the red door off of the parking lot. All volunteers must wear a mask and sign a health waiver before your shift begins. Gloves will be provided. All volunteers must be 14 years or older. The food pantry is always looking for volunteers. Trinity’s Fall Cleanup
Saturday, October 31, at 9:00 am

Volunteers are needed to assist with property clean-up outside of Trinity’s building. Bring your own rakes and gloves. Jobs and projects will be assigned day of by leader, Bruce Bigelow. Contact Bruce if you plan to help.

Chalk the Walk
Saturday, October 31, at 9:00 am

BYO Chalk and come out for some fun as we prepare for All Saints Day. Parents and families invited to help in sprucing up the exterior of the building too! Who knows – you might even find GIANT piles of leaves to jump in!!

At Home Opportunities

Assemble Personal Care Kits
Lutheran World Relief

Collect items and assemble personal care kits for Lutheran World relief. All you need is 1 light-weight bath towel, 2 bars of soap, 1 toothbrush, 1 comb, and 1 nail clipper. Click here to find the instructions. Completed kits should be dropped off at Trinity on Sunday, November 1, from 11 am to 12:30 pm.

Clean out your Closets
Pink Hands of Hope

Clean out your closets! Pink Hands of Hope is looking for fall and winter clothes for their thrift store. Drop off your donations at: 5325 E Trindle Rd Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.  Donations are accepted Mondays and Thursdays from 10 am to 5 pm; and Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm.

Collect Children’s Vitamins
Tree 4 Hope

Collect children’s chewable vitamins (with Iron). They will be sent to Tree 4 Hope in Guatemala. You may drop them off at Trinity on Sunday, November 1 between 11 am and 12:30 pm.
